Florida Senate - 2014 (NP) SR 720 By Senator Sachs 34-00737A-14 2014720__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing October 2014, and each 3 October thereafter, as “Italian and Italian American 4 Heritage Month” in Florida. 5 6 WHEREAS, Italian and Italian American Heritage Month is an 7 appropriate time to recognize the enormous contributions that 8 the Italian and Italian American people have made to this 9 country and the world throughout our history, as generals, 10 admirals, philosophers, statesmen, musicians, athletes, and 11 Nobel Prize-winning scientists, and 12 WHEREAS, Italian and Italian American Heritage Month is 13 held to salute the Italian and Italian American community and to 14 exhibit appreciation for the culture and heritage that have 15 immeasurably enriched the lives of the people of this nation and 16 of this state, and 17 WHEREAS, the strength and success of the United States, the 18 vitality of our communities, and the effectiveness of our 19 American society depend, in great measure, upon the distinctive 20 and sterling qualities demonstrated by our various ethnic 21 groups, exemplified by members of the Italian and Italian 22 American community, who share with us their right and unique 23 heritage, and 24 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that October of each year 25 be observed as “Italian and Italian American Heritage Month” in 26 Florida, NOW, THEREFORE, 27 28 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 29 30 That in recognition of the enormous contributions that 31 Italian and Italian American people have made to this state, 32 this country, and the world throughout our history, the Florida 33 Senate urges the people of the State of Florida to acknowledge 34 October 2014, and each October thereafter, as “Italian and 35 Italian American Heritage Month” in Florida and to observe the 36 month with appropriate events and activities.
