Florida Senate - 2014 SB 752 By Senator Diaz de la Portilla 40-01133-14 2014752__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to specialty license plates; amending 3 ss. 320.08056 and 320.08058, F.S.; requiring the 4 Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to 5 create a Play Ball license plate; establishing an 6 annual use fee for the plate; providing for the 7 distribution of the use fees received from the sale of 8 such plates; providing an effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. Paragraph (eeee) is added to subsection (4) of 13 section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read: 14 320.08056 Specialty license plates.— 15 (4) The following license plate annual use fees shall be 16 collected for the appropriate specialty license plates: 17 (eeee) Play Ball license plate, $25. 18 Section 2. Subsection (83) is added to section 320.08058, 19 Florida Statutes, to read: 20 320.08058 Specialty license plates.— 21 (83) PLAY BALL LICENSE PLATES.— 22 (a) Notwithstanding s. 320.08053(1) and s. 45 of chapter 23 2008-176, Laws of Florida, as amended by s. 21 of chapter 2010 24 223, Laws of Florida, the department shall develop a Play Ball 25 license plate as provided in this section and s. 320.08053(2) 26 and (3). The word “Florida” must appear at the top of the plate, 27 and the words “Play Ball” must appear at the bottom of the 28 plate. 29 (b) The annual use fees shall be distributed to American 30 Dream Baseball, Inc., which shall retain all proceeds until the 31 startup costs for developing and issuing the plates have been 32 recovered. Thereafter, the annual use fees shall be used as 33 follows: 34 1. A maximum of 10 percent of the proceeds may be used for 35 the promotion and marketing of the plate. 36 2. A maximum of 10 percent of the proceeds may be used for 37 the administrative costs directly associated with the plate and 38 with American Dream Baseball, Inc., programs. 39 3. The balance of the proceeds shall be used by American 40 Dream Baseball, Inc., to fund its activities, programs, and 41 projects. 42 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2014.
