Florida Senate - 2015 (NP) SR 1622 By Senator Montford 3-03096-15 20151622__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing the unique and exemplary 3 efforts of Casting for Recovery. 4 5 WHEREAS, Casting for Recovery was founded in 1996 in 6 Manchester, Vermont, by a breast cancer reconstructive surgeon 7 and a professional fly fisher, and 8 WHEREAS, Casting for Recovery is an effort to enhance the 9 quality of life of women with breast cancer through a unique 10 program that combines breast cancer education and peer support 11 with the therapeutic sport of fly fishing, and 12 WHEREAS, Casting for Recovery provides an opportunity for 13 women whose lives have been affected by breast cancer to gather 14 in a natural setting and address quality of life and 15 survivorship issues with other women in similar circumstances, 16 and 17 WHEREAS, more than 1,600 volunteers are involved in Casting 18 for Recovery nationwide, including medical and psychosocial 19 professionals, fly-fishing instructors, and alumnae, who stand 20 with participants ranging in age from 25 to 90 who come from 21 diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, NOW, THEREFORE, 22 23 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 24 25 That Casting for Recovery is recognized for its unique and 26 exemplary efforts on behalf of women with breast cancer and 27 breast cancer survivors.
