Florida Senate - 2015 (NP) SR 1642 By Senator Gardiner 13-03591-15 20151642__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution congratulating the Apopka High School 3 boys bowling team for winning its second Florida High 4 School Athletic Association Championship. 5 6 WHEREAS, the 2014 Apopka High School boys bowling team 7 finished the season as the Florida High School Athletic 8 Association Class 8A Champions, and 9 WHEREAS, the Blue Darters were ranked number one overall in 10 2014 and were the first team in the history of the Florida High 11 School Athletic Association to have the individual state 12 champion, Pete Vergos, and bowling team champions come from the 13 same school, and 14 WHEREAS, on November 6, 2014, the Apopka High School Blue 15 Darters defeated the Paul J. Hagerty High School Huskies by a 16 score of 3-2 in the Florida High School Athletic Association 17 Class 8A Championship, ending the season with a 26-0 record, and 18 WHEREAS, team coaches Todd Hauser and Doug Campbell 19 exhibited exemplary leadership and guidance to the team 20 throughout the season, and 21 WHEREAS, outstanding skill, sportsmanship, and 22 competitiveness are characteristics that were consistently 23 demonstrated by team members Grant Dubay, Jake Thornton, Justin 24 Thornton, Khalid Sabat, Nick Moyer, Pete Vergos, Gage Stelling, 25 and Keith Horton, and 26 WHEREAS, the residents of Apopka and the surrounding 27 community admire the hard work and team spirit demonstrated by 28 the 2014 Apopka Blue Darters boys bowling team during the 2014 29 season and commend the team on its many achievements, NOW, 30 THEREFORE, 31 32 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 33 34 That the 2014 Apopka High School boys bowling team is 35 congratulated for winning the 2014 Florida High School Athletic 36 Association Class 8A Championship and recognized for its 37 athletic ability, model sportsmanship, and honorable 38 citizenship, as well as the outstanding accomplishments of the 39 team members and coaches.
