Florida Senate - 2015 CS for CS for SB 394 By the Committees on Military and Veterans Affairs, Space, and Domestic Security; and Regulated Industries; and Senator Brandes 583-02113-15 2015394c2 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to public lodging establishments; 3 creating s. 509.095, F.S.; requiring specified public 4 lodging establishments to waive certain policies for 5 individuals who are currently on active duty who 6 present a valid military identification card; 7 prohibiting duplication of military identification 8 cards; providing an effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. Section 509.095, Florida Statutes, is created to 13 read: 14 509.095 Accommodations at public lodging establishments for 15 individuals with a valid military identification card.—Upon the 16 presentation of a valid military identification card by an 17 individual who is currently on active duty as a member of the 18 United States Armed Forces, National Guard, Reserve Forces, or 19 Coast Guard, and who seeks to obtain accommodations at a hotel, 20 motel, or bed and breakfast inn, as defined in s. 509.242, such 21 hotel, motel, or bed and breakfast inn shall waive any minimum 22 age policy that it may have which restricts accommodations to 23 individuals based on age. Duplication of a military 24 identification card presented pursuant to this section is 25 prohibited. 26 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2015.
