       Senator Brandes moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete line 142
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 4. Effective January 1, 2017, section 334.071,
    6  Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
    7         334.071 Legislative designation of transportation
    8  facilities.—
    9         (1) Designation of a transportation facility contained in
   10  an act of the Legislature is for honorary or memorial purposes
   11  or to distinguish a particular facility, and unless specifically
   12  provided for, shall not be construed to require any action by a
   13  local government or private party regarding the changing of any
   14  street signs, mailing address, or 911 emergency telephone number
   15  system listing.
   16         (2) A transportation facility may not be designated for any
   17  living person.
   18         (3)(2) The effect of such designations shall only be
   19  construed to require the placement of markers by the department
   20  at the termini or intersections specified for each highway
   21  segment or bridge designated, and as authority for the
   22  department to place other markers as appropriate for the
   23  transportation facility being designated, for a period not to
   24  exceed 25 years.
   25         (4)(3) Erection of markers shall be contingent on the
   26  appropriate city or county commission passing a resolution in
   27  support of the particular honorary designation. If the bridge or
   28  road segment being designated is located in more than one city
   29  or county, resolutions supporting the designation must be passed
   30  by each affected local government prior to the erection of the
   31  markers.
   32         Section 5. Except as otherwise expressly provided in this
   33  act, this act shall take effect on July 1, 2016.

   37         Delete line 12
   38  and insert:
   39         amending s. 334.071, F.S.; prohibiting the designation
   40         of a transportation facility for any living person;
   41         providing a maximum specified period of time by which
   42         certain placement of markers are required; providing
   43         effective dates.
