Floor: NC/2R . 03/04/2016 01:08 PM . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Senator Soto moved the following: 1 Senate Amendment to Amendment (913116) (with title 2 amendment) 3 4 Delete lines 102 - 111 5 and insert: 6 (16) SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY AND SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT RATING 7 REPORTS; FISCAL TRANSPARENCY.— 8 (a) Parents of public school students have the rightare9entitledto an easy-to-read report card about the school’s grade 10 designation or, if applicable under s. 1008.341, the school’s 11 improvement rating, and the school’s accountability report, 12 including the school financial report as required under s. 13 1010.215. A school must provide the school’s financial report to 14 any parent who requests the report. The report must indicate the 15 average amount of money expended per student in the school. 16 (b) The Department of Education shall determine the 17 financial impact on locally levied funds for both the districts 18 that send and that receive students who enroll in a public 19 school in a school district other than their school district of 20 residence. The department shall research the feasibility of, and 21 recommend options for, transferring local funds with such 22 students. Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, the 23 department shall by each November 1 provide results of the 24 research and any recommendations to the Legislature. 25 26 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 27 And the title is amended as follows: 28 Delete line 2598 29 and insert: 30 circumstances; providing that parents of public school 31 students have the right to certain information; 32 requiring the Department of Education to determine the 33 financial impact on certain district funds for 34 students who enroll in a public school in a school 35 district other than their school district of 36 residence; requiring the department to annually report 37 to the Legislature by a specified date; revising 38 student eligibility
