Floor: NC/2R . 03/04/2016 01:09 PM . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Senator Soto moved the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete lines 278 - 287 4 and insert: 5 (16) SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY AND SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT RATING 6 REPORTS; FISCAL TRANSPARENCY.— 7 (a) Parents of public school students have the rightare8entitledto an easy-to-read report card about the school’s grade 9 designation or, if applicable under s. 1008.341, the school’s 10 improvement rating, and the school’s accountability report, 11 including the school financial report as required under s. 12 1010.215. A school must provide the school’s financial report to 13 any parent who requests the report. The report must indicate the 14 average amount of money expended per student in the school. 15 (b) The Department of Education shall determine the 16 financial impact on locally levied funds for both the districts 17 that send and that receive students who enroll in a public 18 school in a school district other than their school district of 19 residence. The department shall research the feasibility of, and 20 recommend options for, transferring local funds with such 21 students. Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, the 22 department shall by each November 1 provide results of the 23 research and any recommendations to the Legislature. 24 25 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 26 And the title is amended as follows: 27 Delete line 20 28 and insert: 29 circumstances; providing that parents of public school 30 students have the right to certain information; 31 requiring the Department of Education to determine the 32 financial impact on certain district funds for 33 students who enroll in a public school in a school 34 district other than their school district of 35 residence; requiring the department to annually report 36 to the Legislature by a specified date; revising 37 student eligibility
