Subsection (66) of section 320.08058, Florida 6 Statutes, is amended to read: 7 320.08058 Specialty license plates.— 8 (66) IN GOD WE TRUST LICENSE PLATES.— 9 (a) The department shall develop an In God We Trust license 10 plate as provided in this section. However, the requirements of 11 s. 320.08053 must be met before the plates are issued. In God We 12 Trust license plates must bear the colors and design approved by 13 the department. The word “Florida” must appear at the top of the 14 plate, and the words “In God We Trust” must appear in the body 15 of the plate. 16 (b) The annual use fees from the plate shall be distributed 17 as a charitable donation to the In God We Trust Foundation, 18 Inc., which may use a maximum of 10 percent of the proceeds to 19 offset marketing, administration, and promotion, and which may 20 use the balance of the fees to address the needs of military 21 service members and their spouses and dependents; provide 22 education in public and private schools regarding the historical 23 significance of religion in American and Florida history; 24 provide educational grants in public and private schools; 25 address the needs of public safety employees and their spouses 26 and dependents; and foster self-reliance and stability in 27 Florida’s children and families. 28(b) The license plate annual use fees shall be distributed29to the In God We Trust Foundation, Inc., to fund educational30scholarships for the children of Florida residents who are31members of the United States Armed Forces, the National Guard,32and the United States Armed Forces Reserve and for the children33of public safety employees who have died in the line of duty who34are not covered by existing state law. Funds shall also be35distributed to other s. 501(c)(3) organizations that may apply36for grants and scholarships and to provide educational grants to37public and private schools to promote the historical and38religious significance of American and Florida history. The In39God We Trust Foundation, Inc., shall distribute the license40plate annual use fees in the following manner:411. The In God We Trust Foundation, Inc., shall retain all42revenues from the sale of such plates until all startup costs43for developing and establishing the plate have been recovered.442. Ten percent of the funds received by the In God We Trust45Foundation, Inc., shall be expended for administrative costs,46promotion, and marketing of the license plate directly47associated with the operations of the In God We Trust48Foundation, Inc.493.
