Florida Senate - 2016 (NP) SR 1726 By Senator Montford 3-01934-16 20161726__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution congratulating Madison’s own Lorenzo 3 Lamar Cain on his exceptional play for the Kansas City 4 Royals in defeating the New York Mets in the 2015 5 World Series. 6 7 WHEREAS, Lorenzo Lamar Cain graduated from Madison County 8 High School, where he played on the school’s baseball team and, 9 while attending Tallahassee Community College, was drafted by 10 the Milwaukee Brewers in the 17th round of the 2004 Major League 11 Baseball draft, and 12 WHEREAS, Lorenzo Lamar Cain made his major league debut 13 with the Milwaukee Brewers on July 16, 2010, against the Atlanta 14 Braves, and 15 WHEREAS, following a trade that sent him to the Kansas City 16 Royals after the 2010 season, Lorenzo Lamar Cain had a 17 spectacular 2014 postseason in which he had a .533 batting 18 average, eight hits, and five runs; tied George Brett’s 19 franchise record for the most hits in a postseason game; and was 20 named the American League Championship Series Most Valuable 21 Player, and 22 WHEREAS, Lorenzo Lamar Cain was chosen to start in the 2015 23 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, and 24 WHEREAS, Lorenzo Lamar Cain completed the 2015 regular 25 season with career highs in batting average, home runs, runs 26 scored, and runs batted in (RBI), and his three-RBI performance 27 in Game 5 of the 2015 World Series assisted the Kansas City 28 Royals in defeating the New York Mets and taking home the 29 Commissioner’s Trophy, NOW, THEREFORE, 30 31 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 32 33 That Madison’s own Lorenzo Lamar Cain is congratulated on 34 his exceptional play for the Kansas City Royals in defeating the 35 New York Mets in the 2015 World Series. 36 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with 37 the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Lorenzo Lamar 38 Cain as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida 39 Senate.
