Florida Senate - 2016 (NP) SR 1754 By Senator Stargel 15-02335-16 20161754__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing November 2016 as “Bladder 3 Health Month” in Florida. 4 5 WHEREAS, tens of millions of Americans are affected by 6 bladder diseases and conditions, including urinary incontinence, 7 overactive bladder, underactive bladder, interstitial cystitis, 8 nocturia, urinary tract infections, bladder cancer, urotrauma, 9 and neurogenic bladder, and 10 WHEREAS, bladder diseases and conditions have a significant 11 impact on health and quality of life, contributing to 12 depression, social isolation, falls, sexual dysfunction, loss of 13 self-esteem, hospitalization, nursing home admissions, and 14 death, and 15 WHEREAS, there is a critical need for medical and 16 behavioral research to better understand and maintain bladder 17 health and treat bladder diseases, and 18 WHEREAS, bladder problems are highly stigmatized, and open 19 dialogue generated by Bladder Health Month can reduce the stigma 20 associated with bladder diseases and conditions and empower 21 providers and patients to have much-needed conversations about 22 bladder health, NOW, THEREFORE, 23 24 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 25 26 That November 2016 is recognized as “Bladder Health Month” 27 in Florida.
