Florida Senate - 2016 (NP) SR 1780 By Senator Legg 17-00786A-16 20161780__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution congratulating the players and coaches of 3 the Land O’ Lakes High School Special Olympics Gray 4 soccer team on their bronze medal win at the 2015 5 Special Olympics World Summer Games. 6 7 WHEREAS, the unified 7-a-side Land O’ Lakes High School 8 Special Olympics Gray soccer team began training for the Special 9 Olympics Florida State Games in January 2015, and 10 WHEREAS, the Land O’ Lakes High School Special Olympics 11 Gray soccer team won gold at the Special Olympics Florida State 12 Games and was invited to join more than 6,500 Special Olympics 13 athletes from 165 countries to compete in the 2015 Special 14 Olympics World Summer Games, and 15 WHEREAS, the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games were 16 held July 25-August 2, 2015, in Los Angeles, where the Land O’ 17 Lakes High School Special Olympics Gray soccer team represented 18 the United States, competing for an international soccer gold 19 medal, and 20 WHEREAS, Land O’ Lakes High School Special Olympics Gray 21 soccer team members Andrew Ahearn, Haley Eckel, Samantha Frahm, 22 Tommy Guglielmello, Chris Hale, Cameron Hilgenberg, Kyle Lufcy, 23 Joseph Tramel, Hassan Shehab, Ordray Smith, Rufus Smith-jones, 24 and Kyle Townsend took home the bronze medal after competing in 25 the divisioning round and defeating China 2-1 in the bronze 26 medal game, and 27 WHEREAS, the Land O’ Lakes High School Special Olympics 28 Gray soccer bronze medal team was coached by Vicky King, Phyllis 29 Crain, and Megan McLean, and 30 WHEREAS, the Land O’ Lakes High School Special Olympics 31 Gray soccer team brought great pride and distinction to the 32 United States and the Sunshine State, NOW, THEREFORE, 33 34 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 35 36 That the players and coaches of the Land O’ Lakes High 37 School Special Olympics Gray soccer team are congratulated on 38 their bronze medal win at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer 39 Games. 40 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with 41 the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Land O’ Lakes 42 High School as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida 43 Senate.
