Florida Senate - 2016 (NP) SR 1782 By Senator Legg 17-03895-16 20161782__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution commending the Florida Association for 3 Behavior Analysis on its 36th anniversary and 4 recognizing the week of September 5-9, 2016, as 5 “Florida Behavior Analysis Week.” 6 7 WHEREAS, the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis is 8 the nation’s largest statewide organization committed to the 9 promotion and support of behavior analysis, and 10 WHEREAS, for the past 35 years the Florida Association for 11 Behavior Analysis has promoted the ethical, humane, and 12 effective application of behavioral principles in all aspects of 13 society, including education, business, rehabilitation 14 facilities, and government, and 15 WHEREAS, behavior analysis is a science-based, cost 16 effective approach for training teachers, parents, and 17 caregivers to prevent and solve serious behavior problems, and 18 WHEREAS, behavior analysis has demonstrated its 19 effectiveness for many applications, including the treatment of 20 autistic individuals, teaching basic self-help skills and 21 language to persons with developmental disabilities, and helping 22 foster parents lovingly raise emotionally difficult children, 23 and 24 WHEREAS, the behavior analysts who are members of the 25 Florida Association for Behavior Analysis have diverse 26 backgrounds, including employment in consulting firms, state 27 government programs, private therapy practices, and school 28 administrations, and 29 WHEREAS, the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis 30 holds an annual conference each fall as a forum for exchanging 31 ideas and data-based research relating to behavior analysis, 32 behavior therapy, performance management, and behavior 33 management programming, NOW, THEREFORE, 34 35 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 36 37 That the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis is 38 recognized for its 36 years of contributions to the field of 39 behavior analysis and that the week of September 5-9, 2016, is 40 recognized as “Florida Behavior Analysis Week” in this state. 41 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with 42 the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the Florida 43 Association for Behavior Analysis as a tangible token of the 44 sentiments of the Florida Senate.
