    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to drones; amending s. 934.50, F.S.;
    3         declaring that a drone is a dangerous instrumentality;
    4         providing applicability; providing an effective date.

    6  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    7  
    8         Section 1. Present subsections (5) and (6) of section
    9  934.50, Florida Statutes, are renumbered as subsections (6) and
   10  (7), respectively, and a new subsection (5) is added to that
   11  section, to read:
   12         934.50 Searches and seizure using a drone.—
   13         (5) LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF DRONE USE.—A drone is a
   14  dangerous instrumentality, and the owner and operator of a drone
   15  shall exercise reasonable care to prevent injuries to others.
   16  This subsection does not apply to a drone having a weight of
   17  0.55 lbs. or less.
   18         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2016.
