The Committee on Higher Education (Sachs) recommended the
following:
1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

3 Between lines 48 and 49
4 insert:
5 Section 2. Section 1004.10, Florida Statutes, is created to
6 read:
7 1004.10 Firearms on public postsecondary school campuses.
8 Notwithstanding any other law, each state university or Florida
9 College System institution board of trustees may create policies
10 prohibiting the possession or carrying of a concealed weapon or
11 firearm pursuant to s. 790.06 within campus boundaries.
12 Section 3. Section 1005.11, Florida Statutes, is created to
13 read:
14 1005.11 Firearms on nonpublic postsecondary school
15 campuses.—Notwithstanding any other law, each nonpublic college,
16 university, or school may create policies prohibiting the
17 possession or carrying of a concealed weapon or firearm pursuant
18 to s. 790.06 within campus boundaries.

21 And the title is amended as follows:
22 Delete lines 2 - 7
23 and insert:
24 An act relating to concealed weapons and firearms;
25 amending s. 790.06, F.S.; deleting a provision
26 prohibiting concealed carry licensees from openly
27 carrying a handgun or carrying a concealed weapon or
28 firearm into a college or university facility;
29 creating s. 1004.10, F.S.; authorizing each state
30 university or Florida College System institution board
31 of trustees to create policies prohibiting the
32 possession or carrying of a concealed weapon or
33 firearm within campus boundaries; creating s. 1005.11,
34 F.S.; authorizing each nonpublic college, university,
35 or school to create policies prohibiting the
36 possession or carrying of a concealed weapon or
37 firearm within campus boundaries; providing an
38 effective date.
