Florida Senate - 2016 SB 896 By Senator Flores 37-00442A-16 2016896__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to specialty license plates; amending 3 ss. 320.08056 and 320.08058, F.S.; providing an annual 4 use fee for a Team Hammy license plate; directing the 5 Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to 6 develop the Team Hammy license plate; providing for 7 the distribution of annual use fees received from the 8 sale of such plates; providing an effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. Paragraph (ffff) is added to subsection (4) of 13 section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read: 14 320.08056 Specialty license plates.— 15 (4) The following license plate annual use fees shall be 16 collected for the appropriate specialty license plates: 17 (ffff) Team Hammy license plate, $25. 18 Section 2. Subsection (84) is added to section 320.08058, 19 Florida Statutes, to read: 20 320.08058 Specialty license plates.— 21 (84) TEAM HAMMY LICENSE PLATES.— 22 (a) The department shall develop a Team Hammy license plate 23 as provided in this section and s. 320.08053. Team Hammy license 24 plates must bear the colors and design approved by the 25 department. The word “Florida” must appear at the top of the 26 plate, and the words “Team Hammy” must appear at the bottom of 27 the plate. 28 (b) The department shall retain all license plate annual 29 use fees until all startup costs for developing and issuing the 30 plates have been recovered. Thereafter, the license plate annual 31 use fees shall be distributed to Team Hammy, Inc., a Florida 32 not-for-profit corporation, which may use up to 10 percent of 33 such fees for administrative costs and marketing of the plate. 34 The balance of the fees shall be used by Team Hammy, Inc., to 35 grant wishes to families living with amyotrophic lateral 36 sclerosis (ALS), to provide continuing education on ALS to 37 caregivers and physicians, and to increase awareness of ALS in 38 the community. 39 Section 3. This act shall take effect October 1, 2016.
