    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to correctional privatization;
    3         prohibiting the entry into or renewal of contracts
    4         relating to correctional privatization after a
    5         specified date; providing for custody of inmates after
    6         the expiration of such contracts; providing for future
    7         repeal of ch. 957, F.S., relating to correctional
    8         privatization; providing a directive to the Division
    9         of Law Revision and Information; providing an
   10         effective date.

   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13  
   14         Section 1. (1)Effective upon this act becoming a law and
   15  notwithstanding any other law, no contract may be entered into
   16  or renewed under chapter 957, Florida Statutes.
   17         (2)Upon the expiration of a contract under chapter 957,
   18  Florida Statutes, all inmates housed pursuant to such contract
   19  shall be returned to the custody of the Department of
   20  Corrections.
   21         Section 2. Upon the expiration of all contracts under
   22  chapter 957, Florida Statutes, that are in effect on the
   23  effective date of this act, that chapter, consisting of ss.
   24  957.01, 957.02, 957.04, 957.05, 957.06, 957.07, 957.08, 957.09,
   25  957.11, 957.12, 957.13, 957.14, 957.15, and 957.16, Florida
   26  Statutes, is repealed.
   27         Section 3. The Division of Law Revision and Information is
   28  directed to prepare a reviser’s bill to conform the Florida
   29  Statutes to the repeals under section 2 of this act to be
   30  presented to the Legislature during the first regular
   31  legislative session following the date of such repeals.
   32         Section 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
