    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Florida Bright Futures
    3         Scholarship Program; amending s. 1009.53, F.S.;
    4         removing a condition under which a student is
    5         authorized to use a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship
    6         Program award for summer term enrollment if funds are
    7         available; requiring that the Legislature appropriate
    8         additional funds necessary for use of an award for
    9         summer term enrollment as provided in the General
   10         Appropriations Act; providing an effective date.

   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13  
   14         Section 1. Subsection (9) of section 1009.53, Florida
   15  Statutes, is amended to read:
   16         1009.53 Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program.—
   17         (9) A student may use an award for summer term enrollment.
   18  The Legislature shall appropriate additional funds necessary for
   19  use of an award for summer term enrollment as provided in the
   20  General Appropriations Act if funds are available.
   21         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2017.
