2 An act relating to the Florida Prepaid College Board;
3 amending s. 1009.971, F.S.; revising the financial
4 disclosures required to be filed by certain Florida
5 Prepaid College Board members; amending s. 1009.983,
6 F.S.; extending the repeal date of the direct-support
7 organization for the Florida Prepaid College Board;
8 providing an effective date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12 Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 1009.971, Florida
13 Statutes, is amended to read:
14 1009.971 Florida Prepaid College Board.—
15 (2) FLORIDA PREPAID COLLEGE BOARD; MEMBERSHIP.—The board
16 shall consist of seven members to be composed of the Attorney
17 General, the Chief Financial Officer, the Chancellor of the
18 State University System, the Chancellor of the Division of
19 Florida Colleges, and three members appointed by the Governor
20 and subject to confirmation by the Senate. Each member appointed
21 by the Governor shall possess knowledge, skill, and experience
22 in the areas of accounting, actuary, risk management, or
23 investment management. Each member of the board not appointed by
24 the Governor may name a designee to serve on the board on behalf
25 of the member; however, any designee so named shall meet the
26 qualifications required of gubernatorial appointees to the
27 board. Members appointed by the Governor shall serve terms of 3
28 years. Any person appointed to fill a vacancy on the board shall
29 be appointed in a like manner and shall serve for only the
30 unexpired term. Any member shall be eligible for reappointment
31 and shall serve until a successor qualifies. Members of the
32 board shall serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed
33 for per diem and travel in accordance with s. 112.061. Each
34 member of the board who is not otherwise required to shall file
35 a full and public disclosure of his or her financial interests
36 pursuant to s. 8, Art. II of the State Constitution or s.
37 112.3144 shall file a statement of financial interests pursuant
38 to s. 112.3145 and corresponding statute.
39 Section 2. Subsection (9) of section 1009.983, Florida
40 Statutes, is amended to read:
41 1009.983 Direct-support organization; authority.—
42 (9) This section is repealed October 1, 2022 2017, unless
43 reviewed and saved from repeal by the Legislature.
44 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2017.
