       The Committee on Education (Simmons) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Substitute for Amendment (512972) (with title
    2  amendment)
    3  
    4         Delete lines 65 - 68
    5  and insert:
    6  indicating satisfactory performance on an assessment. The
    7  department shall study each of the achievement levels used for
    8  the statewide, standardized assessments and more specifically
    9  define the achievement levels in order to communicate the
   10  meaning of such levels to students, parents and teachers. As
   11  part of the study, the department shall review existing
   12  assessment reports and recommend changes that better communicate
   13  the meaning of the achievement levels and their relationship to
   14  student performance and success. The department shall submit the
   15  report with its recommendations to the Governor, the President
   16  of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and
   17  the state board by July 1, 2018.

   22  and insert:
   23         F.S.; requiring the Department of Education to conduct
   24         a study regarding achievement levels for certain
   25         statewide, standardized assessments; requiring a
   26         report to the Governor, the Legislature, and the state
   27         board by a specified date; providing requirements for
   28         administration
