Florida Senate - 2018 (NP) SR 1896 By Senator Benacquisto 27-02065-18 20181896__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution acknowledging the remarkable 3 contributions made to the people of this state by the 4 Junior Leagues of Florida State Public Affairs 5 Committee, and recognizing January 17, 2018, as 6 “Junior Leagues of Florida Day” at the Capitol. 7 8 WHEREAS, the Junior Leagues of Florida State Public Affairs 9 Committee (SPAC) coordinates public affairs activities of the 10 Junior Leagues of Florida to assist the member leagues in their 11 public affairs programs, and 12 WHEREAS, the Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC has served the 13 State of Florida for more than 40 years and boasts 25 member 14 leagues with more than 11,000 members, and 15 WHEREAS, the Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC is dedicated to 16 monitoring the legislative process and addressing issues of 17 public policy importance to the members of the organization, and 18 WHEREAS, the Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC recognizes that 19 quality education is essential if the state’s students are to 20 become productive members of a global society, and the 21 organization is committed to excellence, equality of access, and 22 safety in schools, and 23 WHEREAS, the Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC is committed to 24 protecting, preserving, and enhancing the stability and quality 25 of life for all of Florida’s youth, and 26 WHEREAS, the Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC is committed to 27 advocating for better access to quality health care and 28 awareness and prevention programs that improve the mental and 29 physical health of the people of this state, and 30 WHEREAS, the Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC also is 31 committed to keeping the people of this state safe and supports 32 programs, policies, and educational initiatives that reduce and 33 prevent incidences of harm, and 34 WHEREAS, the Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC has advocated 35 for issues impacting women and children, including at-risk 36 youth, community safety, domestic violence, human trafficking, 37 increased access to healthy food, improved education, and 38 literacy, NOW, THEREFORE, 39 40 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 41 42 That the Junior Leagues of Florida State Public Affairs 43 Committee is commended for the remarkable contributions it has 44 made to the people of this state, and January 17, 2018, is 45 recognized as “Junior Leagues of Florida Day” at the Capitol.
