Florida Senate - 2018 SB 626 By Senator Rodriguez 37-00061-18 2018626__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to public electric utility rates; 3 amending s. 366.06, F.S.; requiring public electric 4 utilities to charge specified electric rates as of a 5 certain date; providing an effective date. 6 7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8 9 Section 1. Subsection (5) is added to section 366.06, 10 Florida Statutes, to read: 11 366.06 Rates; procedure for fixing and changing.— 12 (5) Effective on the date of the conclusion of the first 13 public electric rate request hearing before the commission 14 following July 1, 2018, or on July 1, 2022, whichever occurs 15 first, a public electric utility shall charge for the first 500 16 kilowatt hours used by a residential customer a rate that is 25 17 percent below the overall rate charged by the public electric 18 utility for that customer or, if the public electric utility 19 applies a progressive rate schedule to charge that customer, 25 20 percent below the second tier of the progressive rate schedule 21 for that customer. 22 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2018.
