       Senator Powell moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment to Amendment (234288) (with title
    2  amendment)

    4         Between lines 1170 and 1171
    5  insert:
    6         Section 19. Section 943.17161, Florida Statutes, is created
    7  to read:
    8         943.17161 Continued employment training relating to mental
    9  illness.—The department shall establish a continued employment
   10  training component relating to mental illness as defined in s.
   11  394.455. The training component shall include, but need not be
   12  limited to, instruction on the recognition of the symptoms and
   13  characteristics of an individual with a mental illness and
   14  appropriate responses to an individual exhibiting such symptoms
   15  and characteristics. Completion of the training component may
   16  count toward the 40 hours of instruction for continued
   17  employment or appointment as a law enforcement officer required
   18  under s. 943.135.
