Florida Senate - 2018 SB 950 By Senator Mayfield 17-01091-18 2018950__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to state employment; repealing s. 3 110.181, F.S., relating to the Florida State 4 Employees’ Charitable Campaign; creating s. 110.182, 5 F.S.; prohibiting an organization, an entity, or a 6 person from intentionally soliciting state employees 7 for fundraising or business purposes within specified 8 areas during specified times; providing exceptions; 9 providing an effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. Section 110.181, Florida Statutes, is repealed. 14 Section 2. Section 110.182, Florida Statutes, is created to 15 read: 16 110.182 Solicitation of state employees prohibited.—An 17 organization, an entity, or a person may not intentionally 18 solicit a state employee through any means for fundraising or 19 business purposes within work areas during work hours. This 20 section does not prohibit the following: 21 (1) State-approved communications by entities with whom the 22 state has contracted to provide employee benefits or services. 23 (2) Noncoercive voluntary communications between state 24 employees in workplace areas. 25 (3) Activities at authorized public events occurring in 26 nonwork areas of state-owned or leased facilities. 27 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2018.
