    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to termination of parental rights;
    3         amending s. 39.806, F.S.; authorizing termination of
    4         parental rights if a child has attempted to take the
    5         life of a parent or a parent of the child is
    6         reasonably in fear that the child endangers the life
    7         of a parent; amending s. 39.811, F.S.; conforming
    8         provisions to changes made by the ac; providing an
    9         effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. Paragraph (o) is added to subsection (1) of
   14  section 39.806, Florida Statutes, to read:
   15         39.806 Grounds for termination of parental rights.—
   16         (1) Grounds for the termination of parental rights may be
   17  established under any of the following circumstances:
   18         (o) If the child has attempted to take the life of a parent
   19  or a parent of the child is reasonably in fear that the child
   20  endangers the life of a parent.
   21         Section 2. Paragraph (e) of subsection (6) of section
   22  39.811, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
   23         39.811 Powers of disposition; order of disposition.—
   24         (6) The parental rights of one parent may be severed
   25  without severing the parental rights of the other parent only
   26  under the following circumstances:
   27         (e) If the parent whose rights are being terminated meets
   28  any of the criteria specified in s. 39.806(1)(c), (d), (f), (g),
   29  (h), (i), (j), (k), (l), (m), or (n), or (o).
   30         Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2019.
