In such 10 case, a law enforcement officer must inform the department in 11 writing, which may be provided by facsimile, e-mail, or other 12 electronic means, of the vessel’s derelict status and supply the 13 department with the vessel title number or vessel identification 14 number. The department may issue a certificate of title once a 15 law enforcement officer has verified in writing, which may be 16 provided by facsimile, e-mail, or other electronic means, that 17 the vessel is no longer a derelict vessel.
