Florida Senate - 2020 CS for SB 130 By the Committee on Education; and Senator Hutson 581-01388-20 2020130c1 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund; 3 amending s. 288.101, F.S.; authorizing the Governor to 4 approve workforce training grants to certain charter 5 schools under the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund; 6 amending s. 1002.33, F.S.; authorizing certain public 7 schools to apply for specified grant funds; requiring 8 grant funds to be used toward specified expenses; 9 providing an effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. Paragraph (d) is added to subsection (2) of 14 section 288.101, Florida Statutes, to read: 15 288.101 Florida Job Growth Grant Fund.— 16 (2) The department and Enterprise Florida, Inc., may 17 identify projects, solicit proposals, and make funding 18 recommendations to the Governor, who is authorized to approve: 19 (d) Workforce training grants to support programs at public 20 schools that offer the Career and Technical Education graduation 21 pathway option pursuant to s. 1003.4282(11). Such grants must be 22 used only toward Career and Technical Education program 23 expenses. 24 Section 2. Paragraph (i) is added to subsection (17) of 25 section 1002.33, Florida Statutes, to read: 26 1002.33 Charter schools.— 27 (17) FUNDING.—Students enrolled in a charter school, 28 regardless of the sponsorship, shall be funded as if they are in 29 a basic program or a special program, the same as students 30 enrolled in other public schools in the school district. Funding 31 for a charter lab school shall be as provided in s. 1002.32. 32 (i) A charter school that exclusively offers the Career and 33 Technical Education graduation pathway option pursuant to s. 34 1003.4282(11) is eligible to apply for a workforce training 35 grant under s. 288.101. 36 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2020.
