       The Committee on Judiciary (Perry) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment 
    2  
    3         Delete lines 23 - 44
    4  and insert:
    5  operating transit service for the general public shall post in
    6  at least one conspicuous place at the entrance of each public
    7  transit vehicle a yellow sign with black, bold type font no
    8  smaller than 48 point containing the following statement:
    9         “ATTENTION: ASSAULTING A TRANSIT WORKER IS A FELONY
   10  PUNISHABLE BY UP TO 5 YEARS IN PRISON.”
   11         (2) By July 1, 2021, every public transit provider
   12  operating transit service for the general public shall create
   13  and implement a risk reduction program. Each risk reduction
   14  program shall include conflict de-escalation training for
   15  transit operators. The risk reduction program may include the
   16  deployment of assault mitigation infrastructure and technology
   17  on public transit, including barriers to restrict the unwanted
   18  entry of individuals and objects into transit operator’s
   19  workstations.
   20         Section 2. The Legislature finds that public transit
   21  workers may be subject to assault while performing their jobs.
   22  The Legislature further finds and declares that this act
   23  fulfills an important state interest in protecting the safety of
   24  public transit workers by requiring any public transit providers
   25  operating transit service to conspicuously
