                         Senate Resolution
A resolution expressing the Legislature’s recognition
of this state’s susceptibility to climate change and
its intention to adopt policies to combat climate
        change.

WHEREAS, climate change, a naturally occurring and human
made phenomenon exacerbated by the actions of humans and the
release of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, is a real and
existing threat to the future of this state, its economy, and
 its residents, and
WHEREAS, this state faces increasing air temperatures and
water vapor, increasing ocean temperatures, rising sea levels,
more frequent and severe storm events, agricultural crop-yield
changes, threats to its clean water supply, and flooding as a
 result of climate change, and
WHEREAS, with 1,350 miles of low elevation coastline and 75
percent of this state’s population living in coastal counties
that generate 80 percent of this state’s economic output, all
sectors of the economy are threatened by climate change and the
 resulting sea-level rise, NOW, THEREFORE,

Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

That the Legislature intends to adopt policies to reduce
this state’s overall greenhouse gas output, transition to
renewable and clean energy, protect the state’s water supply,
and develop a sustainable plan to address rising sea levels.
