House Comm: OO . 01/29/2020 . . . . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— The Committee on Ethics and Elections (Rodriguez) recommended the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Between lines 455 and 456 4 insert: 5 Section 7. To account for the Department of State’s 6 implementation problems that caused delays in registering 7 petition circulators as required in s. 100.371, Florida 8 Statutes, the deadline for supervisors of elections to validate 9 and verify signed initiative forms for constitutional amendments 10 proposed by initiative for the 2020 general election ballot is 11 extended through 30 days after the effective date of this act. 12 Notwithstanding the timeframe prescribed in s. 100.371(1), 13 Florida Statutes, the Secretary of State shall accept any 14 petitions verified pursuant to this section for filing so long 15 as the secretary determines that valid and verified petition 16 forms have been signed by the constitutionally required number 17 and distribution of electors required under the Florida Election 18 Code.
