    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020
    3         transitional kindergarten classes at Tropical
    4         Elementary School for their creation and promotion of
    5         the “Kindness All Around” symbol.
    6  
    7         WHEREAS, the term “kind” describes a person who has a
    8  sympathetic or helpful nature, with the term “kindness” meaning
    9  the quality or state of being kind, and
   10         WHEREAS, the 2018-2019 transitional kindergarten students
   11  of Barbara Wilcox’s class at Tropical Elementary School in
   12  Merritt Island created the “Kindness All Around” symbol to
   13  educate the public on the power of kindness, believing that
   14  helping others become more aware of kindness will generate more
   15  kindness, and
   16         WHEREAS, Barbara Wilcox’s 2019-2020 students are continuing
   17  the initiative by promoting the symbol with a classroom grant
   18  from the Brevard Schools Foundation, supported by the State of
   19  Florida School District Education Foundation Matching Grant
   20  Program, and
   21         WHEREAS, the symbol, a heart encircled by a thin ring of
   22  connected arrows, is a visual image that reminds people to be
   23  more aware of ways to integrate kindness into their daily lives,
   24  and
   25         WHEREAS, hundreds of individuals from across the United
   26  States, England, the Philippines, Australia, Spain, Canada,
   27  France, Ireland, and many other nations and the African
   28  continent have put their support behind the symbol, and
   29         WHEREAS, there are existing symbols that serve as
   30  representations of love, peace, and happiness, and the addition
   31  of a kindness symbol will become a reminder of our human
   32  capacity for helpful generosity, sympathy, thoughtfulness, and
   33  understanding, NOW, THEREFORE,

   35  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   36  
   37         That the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 transitional kindergarten
   38  students at Tropical Elementary School are recognized for their
   39  creation and promotion of the “Kindness All Around” symbol.
   40         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
   41  presented to Barbara Wilcox’s 2018-2019 and 2019-2020
   42  transitional kindergarten classes at Tropical Elementary School
   43  as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein.
