Florida Senate - 2020 (NP) CS for SR's 214 & 222 By the Committee on Infrastructure and Security; and Senators Rodriguez, Simpson, Cruz, Stewart, Benacquisto, Bradley, Hutson, Mayfield, Diaz, Wright, Perry, Harrell, Albritton, and Hooper 596-02232-20 2020214c1 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution rejecting and condemning any philosophy 3 that espouses the superiority of one group of people 4 over another which is hateful, dangerous, or a morally 5 corrupt expression of intolerance, and affirming that 6 such philosophies are contradictory to the values that 7 define the people of Florida and the United States. 8 9 WHEREAS, recent acts of domestic terror, including acts of 10 mass violence, have shocked and saddened our nation, and 11 WHEREAS, this murderous violence was perpetrated by 12 individuals who embraced philosophies that espouse the 13 superiority of one group of people over another on the basis of 14 race, color, national origin, sex, or religion, and 15 WHEREAS, these philosophies are embraced by groups which 16 include white nationalists, white supremacists, “incels”, and 17 others, and 18 WHEREAS, these philosophies are contradictory to the 19 values, constitutional protections, and moral fiber of the 20 United States of America and the State of Florida, NOW, 21 THEREFORE, 22 23 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 24 25 That the Florida Senate rejects and condemns any philosophy 26 that espouses the superiority of one group of people over 27 another on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, or 28 religion as hateful, dangerous, and morally corrupt expressions 29 of intolerance; and affirms that such philosophies are 30 contradictory to the values that define the people of Florida 31 and the United States.
