Florida Senate - 2020 SB 360 By Senator Diaz 36-00146-20 2020360__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to the Florida Education Finance 3 Program; amending s. 1011.60, F.S.; requiring school 4 districts that participate in the Florida Education 5 Finance Program to expend 80 percent of funds from the 6 program for classroom spending purposes; providing an 7 effective date. 8 9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 10 11 Section 1. Subsection (8) is added to section 1011.60, 12 Florida Statutes, to read: 13 1011.60 Minimum requirements of the Florida Education 14 Finance Program.—Each district thatwhichparticipates in the 15 state appropriations for the Florida Education Finance Program 16 shall provide evidence of its effort to maintain an adequate 17 school program throughout the district and shall meet at least 18 the following requirements: 19 (8) MINIMUM CLASSROOM EXPENDITURE REQUIREMENTS.—Expend 80 20 percent of funds received from the Florida Education Finance 21 Program for classroom spending purposes, which include salaries 22 and bonuses for classroom teachers; supplies and materials for 23 classroom teachers; student materials, technology for use by 24 students, and tutoring for students; salaries for additional 25 classroom teachers and aides; and classroom-based supplemental 26 instruction activities. 27 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2020.
