The Committee on Commerce and Tourism (Albritton) recommended
the following:

4 and insert:
5 481.207 Fees.—The board, by rule, may establish separate
6 fees for architects and registered interior designers, to be
7 paid for applications, examination, reexamination, licensing and
8 renewal, delinquency, reinstatement, and recordmaking and
9 recordkeeping. The examination fee shall be in an amount that
10 covers the cost of obtaining and administering the examination
11 and shall be refunded if the applicant is found ineligible to
12 sit for the examination. The application fee is nonrefundable.
13 The fee for initial application and examination for architects
14 and interior designers may not exceed $775 plus the actual per
15 applicant cost to the department for purchase of the examination
16 from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards
17 or the National Council of Interior Design Qualifications,
18 respectively, or similar national organizations. The initial
19 nonrefundable fee for registered interior designers may not
20 exceed $75. The biennial renewal fee for architects may not
21 exceed $200. The biennial renewal fee for registered interior
22 designers may not exceed $75 $500. The delinquency fee may not
23 exceed the biennial renewal fee established by the board for an
24 active license. The board shall establish fees that are adequate
25 to ensure the continued operation of the board and to fund the
26 proportionate expenses incurred by the department which are
27 allocated to the regulation of architects and registered
28 interior designers. Fees shall be based on department estimates
29 of the revenue required to implement this part and the
30 provisions of law with respect to the regulation of architects
31 and interior designers.
