    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to nonemergency medical transportation
    3         services; amending s. 401.25, F.S.; authorizing
    4         certain transportation brokers and licensed basic life
    5         support or licensed advanced life support ambulance
    6         services to provide nonemergency Medicaid
    7         transportation in permitted ambulances in any county
    8         at the request of a certain eligible plan and without
    9         obtaining a certain certificate; providing an
   10         effective date.
   11          
   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13  
   14         Section 1. Subsection (8) is added to section 401.25,
   15  Florida Statutes, to read:
   16         401.25 Licensure as a basic life support or an advanced
   17  life support service.—
   18         (8) At the request of an eligible plan as defined in s.
   19  409.962 which administers the nonemergency Medicaid
   20  transportation benefit, the plan’s subcontracted transportation
   21  broker, or a transportation broker that administers the
   22  nonemergency Medicaid transportation benefit for the Agency for
   23  Health Care Administration, a licensed basic life support or
   24  licensed advanced life support ambulance service may provide
   25  nonemergency Medicaid transportation in permitted ambulances in
   26  any county without obtaining a certificate of public convenience
   27  and necessity as required in paragraph (2)(d).
   28         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2020.
