Florida Senate - 2021 (NP) SR 2042 By Senator Polsky 29-03680-21 20212042__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution expressing appreciation for the dedicated 3 service of Jared Moskowitz as director of the Florida 4 Division of Emergency Management. 5 6 WHEREAS, Jared Moskowitz was appointed as the director of 7 the Florida Division of Emergency Management by Governor Ron 8 DeSantis in January 2019, and 9 WHEREAS, Jared Moskowitz has led the state’s response to 10 the COVID-19 pandemic; hurricanes Dorian, Isaias, Laura, and 11 Sally; and more than 10 other emergencies, including tropical 12 storms and wildfires, and 13 WHEREAS, under Jared Moskowitz’ leadership, state 14 government has implemented policies to improve the process of 15 providing hurricane recovery funding to cities and counties and 16 has overseen the distribution of more than $3 billion in 17 recovery funding, the most in the division’s history in so short 18 a time, and 19 WHEREAS, Jared Moskowitz’ record of public service began in 20 2006, when he was elected at 25 years of age to the Parkland 21 City Commission while still a law student at the Shepard Broad 22 College of Law at Nova Southeastern University, and 23 WHEREAS, from 2012 to 2019, Jared Moskowitz served as the 24 State Representative for District 97, representing Coral 25 Springs, Tamarac, Sunrise, and Plantation, and 26 WHEREAS, Jared Moskowitz, who was raised in South Florida, 27 is resigning his post effective April 30, 2021, to return home 28 and begin the next chapter in his illustrious life, NOW, 29 THEREFORE, 30 31 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 32 33 That the dedicated service of Jared Moskowitz as director 34 of the Florida Division of Emergency Management is recognized 35 and appreciated. 36 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with 37 the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Jared Moskowitz 38 as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
