    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to administration of vaccines;
    3         amending s. 465.189, F.S.; revising the specified
    4         vaccines that certain pharmacists and registered
    5         interns under certain supervision may administer to
    6         adults; specifying that certain epinephrine
    7         administered by pharmacists must be weight-based
    8         doses; providing an effective date.
    9          
   10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   11  
   12         Section 1. Subsections (1) and (2) of section 465.189,
   13  Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
   14         465.189 Administration of vaccines and epinephrine
   15  autoinjection.—
   16         (1) In accordance with guidelines of the Centers for
   17  Disease Control and Prevention for each recommended immunization
   18  or vaccine, a pharmacist, or a registered intern under the
   19  supervision of a pharmacist who is certified under subsection
   20  (6), may administer the following vaccines to an adult within
   21  the framework of an established protocol under a supervising
   22  physician licensed under chapter 458 or chapter 459:
   23         (a) Immunizations or vaccines listed in the Adult
   24  Immunization Schedule as of February 1, 2015, by the United
   25  States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The board may
   26  authorize, by rule, additional immunizations or vaccines as they
   27  are added to the Adult Immunization Schedule.
   28         (b) Immunizations or vaccines recommended by the Centers
   29  for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on
   30  Immunization Practices.
   31         (c) Immunizations or vaccines recommended by the United
   32  States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for
   33  international travel as of July 1, 2015. The board may
   34  authorize, by rule, additional immunizations or vaccines as they
   35  are recommended by the United States Centers for Disease Control
   36  and Prevention for international travel.
   37         (d)(c) Immunizations or vaccines approved by the board in
   38  response to a state of emergency declared by the Governor
   39  pursuant to s. 252.36.

   41  A registered intern who administers an immunization or vaccine
   42  under this subsection must be supervised by a certified
   43  pharmacist at a ratio of one pharmacist to one registered
   44  intern.
   45         (2) In order to address any unforeseen allergic reaction, a
   46  pharmacist may administer a weight-based dose of epinephrine
   47  using an autoinjector delivery system within the framework of an
   48  established protocol under a supervising physician licensed
   49  under chapter 458 or chapter 459.
   50         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2021.
