       Appropriations Subcommittee on Education (Rodrigues) recommended
       the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

    3         Between lines 128 and 129
    4  insert:
    5         Section 4. Paragraph (a) of subsection (6) of section
    6  1002.20, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
    7         1002.20 K-12 student and parent rights.—Parents of public
    8  school students must receive accurate and timely information
    9  regarding their child’s academic progress and must be informed
   10  of ways they can help their child to succeed in school. K-12
   11  students and their parents are afforded numerous statutory
   12  rights including, but not limited to, the following:
   13         (6) EDUCATIONAL CHOICE.—
   14         (a) Public educational school choices.—Parents of public
   15  school students may seek any public educational school choice
   16  options that are applicable and available to students throughout
   17  the state. These options may include controlled open enrollment,
   18  single-gender programs, lab schools, virtual instruction
   19  programs, charter schools, charter technical career centers,
   20  magnet schools, alternative schools, special programs, auditory
   21  oral education programs, advanced placement, dual enrollment,
   22  International Baccalaureate, International General Certificate
   23  of Secondary Education (pre-AICE), CAPE digital tools, CAPE
   24  industry certifications, early college collegiate high school
   25  programs, Advanced International Certificate of Education, early
   26  admissions, credit by examination or demonstration of
   27  competency, the New World School of the Arts, the Florida School
   28  for the Deaf and the Blind, and the Florida Virtual School.
   29  These options may also include the public educational choice
   30  options of the Opportunity Scholarship Program and the McKay
   31  Scholarships for Students with Disabilities Program.
