    2         An act relating to juvenile justice; creating s.
    3         985.031, F.S.; providing a short title; prohibiting a
    4         child younger than a certain age from being
    5         adjudicated delinquent, arrested, or charged with a
    6         violation of law or a delinquent act; providing an
    7         exception; providing an effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Section 985.031, Florida Statutes, is created to
   12  read:
   13         985.031Age limitation; exception.
   14         (1) This section may be cited as the “Kaia Rolle Act.”
   15         (2) A child younger than 7 years of age may not be
   16  adjudicated delinquent, arrested, or charged with a violation of
   17  law or a delinquent act on the basis of acts occurring before he
   18  or she reaches 7 years of age, unless the violation of law is a
   19  forcible felony as defined in s. 776.08.
   20         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2021.
