This paragraph does not apply to members of bargaining 6 units that represent law enforcement officers, correctional 7 officers, or correctional probation officers as those terms are 8 defined in s. 943.10 or firefighters as defined in s. 633.102. 9 Section 2. Section 447.303, Florida Statutes, is amended to 10 read: 11 447.303 Dues; deduction and collection.— 12 (1) AnAnyemployee organization thatwhichhas been 13 certified as a bargaining agent hasshall havethe right to have 14 its dues and uniform assessments deducted and collected by the 15 employer from the salaries of those employees who authorize the 16 deduction of said dues and uniform assessments. 17 (2)(a) Deductions shall commence when the employer receives 18 a signed deduction authorization form from the bargaining agent 19 and confirms with the employee, electronically or by other 20 means, that he or she authorized the deduction of dues and 21 uniform assessments. The employer must make such confirmation 22 within 30 days after receiving the signed deduction 23 authorization form. 24 (b) An employee’s authorization to deduct dues and uniform 25 assessments remains in effect until the members of the 26 bargaining unit approve a new collective bargaining agreement 27 with the public employer or for 3 years after the date on which 28 the deduction begins, whichever is earlier. 29 (c) This subsection does not apply to members of bargaining 30 units that represent law enforcement officers, correctional 31 officers, or correctional probation officers as those terms are 32 defined in s. 943.10 or firefighters as defined
