    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Florida Bright Futures
    3         Scholarship Program; amending s. 1009.531, F.S.;
    4         deleting a provision prohibiting a student from being
    5         eligible for an initial award from any of the
    6         scholarships under the Florida Bright Futures
    7         Scholarship Program if the student was found guilty
    8         of, or entered a plea of nolo contendere to, a felony
    9         charge, unless the student had been granted clemency;
   10         providing an effective date.

   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13  
   14         Section 1. Paragraph (e) of subsection (1) of section
   15  1009.531, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
   16         1009.531 Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program;
   17  student eligibility requirements for initial awards.—
   18         (1) In order to be eligible for an initial award from any
   19  of the scholarships under the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship
   20  Program, a student must:
   21         (e) Not have been found guilty of, or entered a plea of
   22  nolo contendere to, a felony charge, unless the student has been
   23  granted clemency by the Governor and Cabinet sitting as the
   24  Executive Office of Clemency.
   25         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2021.
