    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Florida Bright Futures
    3         Scholarship Program; amending s. 1009.531, F.S.,
    4         modifying initial eligibility requirements for the
    5         Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program; providing
    6         an effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Paragraph (e) of subsection (1) of section
   11  1009.531, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
   12         1009.531 Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program;
   13  student eligibility requirements for initial awards.—
   14         (1) In order to be eligible for an initial award from any
   15  of the scholarships under the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship
   16  Program, a student must:
   17         (e) Not have been found guilty of, or entered a plea of
   18  nolo contendere to, a felony charge or more than one felony
   19  charge if committed while under the age of eighteen, unless the
   20  student has been granted clemency by the Governor and Cabinet
   21  sitting as the Executive Office of Clemency.
   22         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2021.
