       Senator Jones moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment to House Amendment (107453) (with title
    2  amendment)

    4         Between lines 298 and 299
    5  insert:
    6         Section 7. Section 97.0583, Florida Statutes, is amended to
    7  read:
    8         97.0583 Voter registration at secondary schools and
    9  qualifying educational institutions.—
   10         (1) Secondary schools are encouraged to provide
   11  opportunities for preregistration for students 16 years of age
   12  and older to help ensure greater participation in the electoral
   13  process once students are eligible to vote upon reaching 18
   14  years of age.
   15         (2) Each qualifying educational institution shall provide
   16  each student enrolled in that institution the opportunity to
   17  register to vote or to update a voter registration record on
   18  each campus at least once a year. Qualifying educational
   19  institutions are also encouraged to provide voter registration
   20  services at other times and places, such as upon application for
   21  financial aid, during admissions, at registration, upon issuance
   22  of student identifications, and at new-student orientation.
