House Comm: RCS . 02/02/2022 . . . . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— The Committee on Health Policy (Gibson) recommended the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete lines 30 - 74 4 and insert: 5 chapter 458 or 459 or an autonomous advanced practice registered 6 nurse registered under s. 464.0123. 7 (c) “Uterine fibroid” means a noncancerous growth of the 8 uterus that often appears during a woman’s childbearing years. 9 (2) UTERINE FIBROID RESEARCH DATABASE.— 10 (a) The department shall develop and maintain an electronic 11 database consisting of information related to uterine fibroids. 12 The purpose of the database is to encourage research relating to 13 the diagnosis and treatment of uterine fibroids and to ensure 14 that women are provided with the relevant information and health 15 care necessary to prevent and treat uterine fibroids. The 16 database must include, but need not be limited to, all of the 17 following information: 18 1. Incidence and prevalence of women diagnosed with uterine 19 fibroids in this state. 20 2. Demographic attributes of women diagnosed with uterine 21 fibroids in this state. 22 3. Treatments and procedures for uterine fibroids used by 23 health care providers in this state. 24 (b) A health care provider who diagnoses or treats a woman 25 with uterine fibroids shall submit information relating to such 26 diagnosis or treatment to the department in a form and manner 27 prescribed by department rule for inclusion in the database. 28 Such information may be submitted along with any reports or 29 other information that the health care provider is required to 30 submit to the department pursuant to state law. 31 (c) The database may not include any personal identifying 32 information of women diagnosed with or treated for uterine 33 fibroids. Such information is confidential and may be used only 34 by employees or agents of the department for the purpose of 35 conducting uterine fibroid research. 36 (3) UTERINE FIBROID EDUCATION OUTREACH AND PUBLIC 37 AWARENESS.—The department shall develop and include information 38 related to fibroids in literature on women’s health care and 39 other related health care which is currently made available to 40 the public to increase public awareness of uterine fibroids. The 41 information must include, but need not be limited to, the 42 following: 43 (a) Possible risk factors for developing uterine fibroids. 44 (b) Range of available treatment options that are 45 considered alternatives to hysterectomy. 46 47 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 48 And the title is amended as follows: 49 Delete lines 15 - 18 50 and insert: 51 purpose; requiring the department to develop and 52 include information related to fibroids in certain 53 literature currently made available to the public for 54 a specified purpose;
