Effective October 1, 2022, section 960.0023, 6 Florida Statutes, is created to read: 7 960.0023 Duty of candor to an alleged victim.—A person who 8 has been arrested or charged with a crime or a delinquent act, 9 as well as the person’s attorney or agent, who contacts the 10 alleged victim to obtain information relating to the alleged 11 victim or the crime or delinquent act may not misrepresent his 12 or her identity or the identity of the person he or she is 13 representing or on whose behalf he or she is working. A person 14 who violates this section commits a misdemeanor of the second 15 degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. 16 Section 5. Except as otherwise expressly provided in this 17 act, this act shall take effect July 1, 2022. 18 19 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 20 And the title is amended as follows: 21 Delete lines 13 - 14 22 and insert: 23 provisions to changes made by the act; creating s. 24 960.0023, F.S.; prohibiting certain persons from 25 misrepresenting their identity when contacting an 26 alleged victim of a crime or a delinquent act to 27 obtain information relating to the alleged victim or 28 the crime or delinquent act; providing criminal 29 penalties; providing effective dates.
