Senator Hutson moved the following:

5 (10) CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION GRADUATION PATHWAY
6 OPTION.—Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, a student is
7 eligible to complete an alternative pathway to earning a
8 standard high school diploma through the Career and Technical
9 Education (CTE) pathway option. Receipt of a standard high
10 school diploma awarded through the CTE pathway option requires
11 the student’s successful completion of at least 18 credits. A
12 student completing the CTE pathway option must earn at least a
13 cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
14 (a) In order for a student to satisfy the requirements of
15 the CTE pathway option, he or she must meet the GPA requirement
16 and:
17 1. Meet the requirements in paragraphs (3)(a) through (d)
18 and, additionally, for students entering grade 9 in the 2023
19 2024 school year and thereafter, paragraph (3)(h);
20 2. Complete two credits in career and technical education.
21 The courses must result in a program completion and an industry
22 certification; and
23 3.a. For a student who enters grade 9 before the 2023-2024
24 school year, complete two credits in electives or work-based
25 learning programs. A one-half credit in financial literacy may
26 be included in the two credits of electives; or
27 b. For a student who enters grade 9 in the 2023-2024 school
28 year and thereafter, complete one and one-half credits in
29 electives or work-based learning programs Complete two credits
30 in work-based learning programs. A student may substitute up to
31 two credits of electives, including one-half credit in financial
32 literacy, for work-based learning program courses to fulfill
33 this requirement.
34 Section 4. Subsection (5) of section 1002.3105, Florida
35 Statutes, is amended to read:
36 1002.3105 Academically Challenging Curriculum to Enhance
37 Learning (ACCEL) options.—
38 (5) AWARD OF A STANDARD HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA.—A student who
39 meets the following applicable grade 9 cohort graduation
40 requirements of s. 1003.4282(3)(a)-(e), earns three credits in
41 electives, and earns a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of
42 2.0 on a 4.0 scale shall be awarded a standard high school
43 diploma in a form prescribed by the State Board of Education:
44 (a) The applicable grade 9 cohort graduation requirements
45 of s. 1003.4282(3)(a)-(e);
46 (b)1. For a student who enters grade 9 before the 2023-2024
47 school year, earn three credits in electives; or
48 2. For a student who enters grade 9 in the 2023-2024 school
49 year and thereafter, earn two and one-half credits in electives
50 and one-half credit in financial literacy; and
51 (c) Earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a
52 4.0 scale.

58 Section 3. Paragraph (g) of subsection (3) and paragraph
59 (a) of subsection (10) of section 1003.4282, Florida Statutes,
60 are amended, and paragraph (h) is added to subsection (3) of
61 that section, to read:
