Florida Senate - 2022 SB 1066 By Senator Burgess 20-00719B-22 20221066__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to workers’ compensation benefits for 3 first responders; amending s. 112.1815, F.S.; 4 providing that the time for specified notice in 5 certain cases of compensable posttraumatic stress 6 disorder is measured from the time of the qualifying 7 event or the diagnosis of the disorder, rather than 8 the manifestation of the disorder, whichever is later; 9 providing an effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. Paragraph (d) of subsection (5) of section 14 112.1815, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 15 112.1815 Firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical 16 technicians, and law enforcement officers; special provisions 17 for employment-related accidents and injuries.— 18 (5) 19 (d) The time for notice of injury or death in cases of 20 compensable posttraumatic stress disorder under this subsection 21 is the same as in s. 440.151(6) and is measured from one of the 22 qualifying events listed in subparagraph (a)2. or the diagnosis 23manifestationof the disorder, whichever is later. A claim under 24 this subsection must be properly noticed within 52 weeks after 25 the qualifying event or the diagnosis of the disorder, whichever 26 is later. 27 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022.
