       Senator Rodrigues moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with directory and title amendments)
    2  
    3         Between lines 13 and 14
    4  insert:
    5         (1)(a) Except for political parties or affiliated party
    6  committees, no person or political committee may, in any
    7  election, make contributions in excess of the following amounts:
    8         1. To a candidate for statewide office or for retention as
    9  a justice of the Supreme Court, $3,000. Candidates for the
   10  offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor on the same ticket
   11  are considered a single candidate for the purpose of this
   12  subparagraph.
   13         2.or To a political committee that is the sponsor of or is
   14  in opposition to a constitutional amendment proposed by
   15  initiative, $3,000. This limitation applies only to persons who
   16  are not residents of the state and to political committees that
   17  have not registered an office under this chapter using a street
   18  address located within the state. However, the limitation on
   19  contributions to such political committees no longer applies
   20  once the Secretary of State has issued a certificate of ballot
   21  position and a designating number for the proposed amendment
   22  that the political committee is sponsoring or opposing.
   23  Candidates for the offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor
   24  on the same ticket are considered a single candidate for the
   25  purpose of this section.
   26         3.2. To a candidate for retention as a judge of a district
   27  court of appeal; a candidate for legislative office; a candidate
   28  for multicounty office; a candidate for countywide office or in
   29  any election conducted on less than a countywide basis; or a
   30  candidate for county court judge or circuit judge, $1,000.
