       Senator Berman moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

    3         Between lines 156 and 157
    4  insert:
    5         8.To ensure that parents and legal guardians know how to
    6  discuss sexual orientation and gender identity with their
    7  children, the Department of Education, in consultation with
    8  Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) and
    9  the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), shall
   10  create a pamphlet focused on providing parents and legal
   11  guardians with information on how to talk to their children
   12  about sexual orientation and gender identity. The pamphlet must
   13  contain contact information for local LGBTQ+ focused
   14  organizations that can assist parents in preparing for such
   15  conversations. Each school district shall annually provide the
   16  pamphlet to parents and legal guardians and prominently display
   17  such pamphlets in the front office of schools within the
   18  district.
