Florida Senate - 2022 SB 1776 By Senator Torres 15-01681-22 20221776__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to vacating premises after rental 3 agreement termination; amending s. 83.56, F.S.; 4 requiring landlords to provide certain tenants a 5 specified amount of time to vacate the premises after 6 delivery of a notice to terminate the rental agreement 7 before bringing a specified action; providing an 8 effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. Subsections (5) and (6) of section 83.56, 13 Florida Statutes, are redesignated as subsections (6) and (7), 14 respectively, and a new subsection (5) is added to that section, 15 to read: 16 83.56 Termination of rental agreement.— 17 (5) Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, if the 18 landlord knows or reasonably should know that the tenant is 19 pregnant or there are children under 18 years of age living in 20 the dwelling unit, the landlord must provide the tenant at least 21 3 months after delivery of a written notice under subsection (2) 22 or subsection (3) to vacate the premises before bringing an 23 action for possession of the dwelling unit under s. 83.59. 24 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022.
